Match the interface before the power
The tool is the last choice, not the first. Read the fastener head, match the bit that fully fills its recess, then choose a driver appropriate to the size and material.

If the bit rocks, bottoms out early, or only touches at the tips, stop. More torque will damage the interface faster.
